Technically, reflexology is the science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas on the feet and hands that correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body.  It is not massage, but a particular method of using the thumb and fingers to stimulate reflex areas. As a reflexologist works the reflex areas on your feet or hands, the patterns of tension held in your body are interrupted, which then allows your body’s own healing wisdom to emerge. Reflexology is like hitting a reset button inside your body.

Does it hurt?

Jenna uses a relaxing, gentle touch for reflexology because she believes that a stressed body cannot heal. If applied pressure is too hard it can create more resistance and more pain instead of bringing relief and help. When the patterns of tension held in the hands, feet, and face are interrupted by safe, gentle pressure, the natural healing wisdom of the body can emerge.

How is it different than a hand or foot massage?

While the experience of receiving reflexology is much like receiving a foot or hand massage, it isn’t the same thing. Massage focuses on the muscular structure of the body, where reflexology concentrates on the reflex areas. Fortunately, reflex areas are on top of, within, or between the muscles in the feet and hands, which is what allows the session to feel very similar to a gentle, relaxing, massage.

What happens in a typical session?

At the beginning of your session, you'll have a conversation with Jenna to discuss your physical symptoms, general health history, and determine together where on your body (feet, hands, or face) to begin. During a session, some people stay awake and alert, asking questions or chatting with the reflexologist. Other people may stay awake but prefer to close their eyes and gently relax, while others go deep inside and totally relax to the point of falling asleep or choosing a lucid dream experience.

What can reflexology do for my symptoms?

Medical science is making it clear that stress is the biggest driver of pain, illness and disease. People turn to reflexology for the relief of all kinds of symptoms, everything from back pain to digestive issues to infertility and depression, the roots of which are all exacerbated by stress and tension. By relieving tension in the body’s reflex areas on your feet and hands, stress is alleviated and the healing wisdom inside the body can begin working to bring you back to wholeness.
